Specific Duties

  • Field incoming help requests from end-users via both phone and e-mail and requests to the helpdesk system in a courteous manner.
  • Provide Tier 1 and Tier 2 support.
  • Document all pertinent end user identification information, including name, division, contact information, and nature of problem or issue.
  • Understand the working of the hardware used in the Transit Management System (TMS) and ensure all hardware and software in the TMS system is in working condition.
  • Attend issues related to TMS system under the supervision of Transit System Administrator.
  • Build rapport and elicit problem details from help desk customers.
  • Prioritize and schedule problems, escalate problems (when required) to the relevant department.
  • Record, track, and document the help desk request problem-solving process, including all successful and unsuccessful decisions made, actions taken, through to final resolution.
  • Apply diagnostic utilities to aid in troubleshooting.
  • Access software updates, drivers, knowledge bases, and frequently asked questions resources on the Internet to aid in problem resolution.
  • Identify and learn appropriate software and hardware used and supported by the organization.
  • Perform hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, implementing file backups, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Install anti-virus software.
  • Performing preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.
  • Test fixes to ensure the problem has been adequately resolved.
  • Perform post-resolution follow-ups to help requests.
  • Evaluate documented resolutions and analyse trends for ways to prevent future problems.
  • Design and conduct end-user training on applications and IT equipment usage when necessary and as directed by the supervisor.
  • Manage and/or provide guidance to junior members of the team.
  • Troubleshoot, research and apply fixes and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in compliance with ICT policies and mandate.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field OR
  • Diploma in a related field with 1 years experience
