Candidate profile
- Minimum 2 years experience in a similar role in the hospitality or marine industry.
- Strong knowledge of marine engine mechanics and electrical systems.
- Familiarity with hydraulic systems, fuel and coolant assemblies, power tilts, and bilge pumps.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment for marine engines.
- Good communication skills in written and spoken English.
Job Description
- Inspect, adjust, and evaluate mechanical and electrical parts of the boat, including the main engine, electrical methods, navigation lights, hydraulic systems, and fuel assemblies.
- Keep a detailed record of engine running hours and collaborate with captains to schedule and perform maintenance such as replacing fuel filters, lubrication oil, and gear oil.
- Repair and adjust electrical and mechanical equipment of gasoline or diesel-powered inboard or inboard-outboard boat engines.
- Diagnose and repair faults in generators and electrical wiring in the engine room, cabin, and other areas of the vessel.
- Disassemble engines to locate and fix defective parts, ensuring proper reassembly and testing for performance.
- Monitor engine performance and ensure all gauges, meters, and thermometers are functioning correctly.
- Safeguard and skillfully mount electronic appliances and equipment such as GPS, Radio, and Radar.
- Document inspection and test results, and report any necessary repairs or replacements.
- Assist the Engineering Department with mechanical and engineering-related tasks.
- Participate in departmental and Human Resources, Learning, and Development initiatives to enhance service levels and comply with health and safety practices.
- Support on-the-job training and orientation of new team members and trainees.
- Follow maritime laws and the health and safety rules and procedures set by the company.
- Communicate regularly with the Engineering Manager/Supervisor regarding any issues with boats.
- Write incident reports for any technically related incidents during trips and report any safety rule violations by crews, captains, or passengers.
